Group 1 Test Next For Illuminate

One horse definitely sidestepping York next week is the unbeaten juvenile Illuminate (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}). Richard Hannon’s filly has answered every call this summer, backing up her impressive G3 Albany S. success at Royal Ascot with a battling performance to win Newmarket’s G2 Duchess of Cambridge S. over the subsequent stakes winner Besharah (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}). A plan to run in the G2 Lowther S. at York has been scrapped in favor of another step up in grade.

“Illuminate will go for the G1 Cheveley Park S. at Newmarket,” Hannon commented. “She would have to run at York with a penalty and I don’t see the point in that as she has already won at that level.”
